Carla Ventura

Carla Ventura, is an Associate Professor, College of Nursing, University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. Carla has a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Brasilia, a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of São Paulo, a Master’s degree in International Law from the University of the State of São Paulo, and a Doctoral degree from the University of São Paulo. She has been a Fulbright Scholar at the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in the USA and held a Fulbright Fellowship on Human Rights at the University of Notre Dame’s (USA) Center for Civil and Human Rights. Her responsibilities at the University of São Paulo have included interdisciplinary courses in human rights and health, global health, bioethics and nursing legislation, as well as coordination of an interdisciplinary research group on nursing, global health, law and development (GEPESADES). She is also the Deputy Director of the PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre in Nursing Research Development at her University.

During her 1-year stay at the University of Alberta, Carla will be working on a project focused upon human rights, ethics, and mental health with Wendy Austin.
